About Us
In 1920, when Gross & Janes Co began supplying wood crossties to the railroad industry, there were thousands of track lines during the golden years of commercial transport and travel. In the intervening years, despite consolidations and fewer miles of track, Gross & Janes Co. has experienced continuing growth. It's testimony to their 'customer-first' way of doing business. Under the same family ownership since its founding, Gross & Janes Co. now operates processing plants in Missouri, Arkansas and Texas. It is the largest independent supplier and shipper of untreated ties in North America, purchasing raw material from more than 225 independent sawmills located in ten states.
Gross & Janes Co. was the leader in the crosstie supply industry for the research and development of environmentally safe borate treatments for crossties. We have been involved in the research of a new treatment for over 20 years. Our decades long relationships with the sawmills keeps a consistent supply of ties available for railroads.
Gross & Janes serves Class 1 railroads and track maintenance contractors with high quality green and borate-pretreated crossties. We are most competitive fulfilling contracts of 25,000 or more crossties.
